Developing Social Communication Skills Workshops for Parents and Carers

The Cambridge Hub local branch of the NAS are considering funding 2 sets of parent/carer workshops on understanding and developing social communication skills. These will be run by ‘Communication Cambridge’ a company led by 2 experienced speech and language therapists providing very positively reviewed training for children, parents and professionals across our area.

There could be 2 sessions for parents of children under 10 and 2 sessions for over 10s with a maximum number of participants being 12 in each age group
The sessions will cover
1. developing awareness
2. developing strategies
it is vital that participating parents attend both sessions.

Time and dates are to be confirmed but are likely to be evening sessions at The Chitra Sethia Autism Centre in Fulbourn.

The branch can only consider this kind of funding if there is enough interest from members.

If you are interested and would like more information please reply to us by email (with WORKSHOP in the subject bar), and give us your name , email address and which age group you need by April 10th, please.

STOP PRESS the branch may also fund 2 groups in the same age ranges for the children to attend. This would be 10 early evening sessions with a max of 6-7 children in each group. These sessions are very expensive and the branch can only consider them if there is sufficient interest, so again, please let us know if you think you would like this type of group for your child, and which age group.
